"Maximus" DC Sunrise Maximus v Ruger MW
(CH Silvercloud's Sunset Bandit MW, CGC ex Sunrise Lightly Tanned MS, SE ROMX)
Maximus has been a consistent and wonderful producer for us. He currently has 7 CH offspring and a DC son, Jay, and another boy, CH Guinness, who only needs a FT placement to be a DC. He has many other kids who are major and field pointed. There is a TD son, three JE kids, others who have JE legs, and an RN son who is also a certified Therapy Dog. His oldest pups are only just 2.5 years old. He brings elegance, fabulous movement and pretty heads to the bitches to whom he is bred. He also replicates his beautiful temperament and his love of hunting. He needs three more CH or FC offspring for his ROMX, as he already has his qualifiers.

"Midge" FC Doxikota Malibu Midge MS, JE (CAN conformation pointed)
(DC Doxikota Frodo Baggins MW, JE ex CH Doxikota Mali-Boo Barbie MS)
Midge came here from Parksville, BC, Canada at a couple months shy of 4 years of age in order to go with me to Field Trials and Earthdog. Her owner, Meghan Green, wanted to see how she would do. Well, Midge certainly "did"! She earned her FC in five tries with two firsts and a second. She bested 113 bitches over three days in one weekend. She only lost to one bitch in that weekend. She is a very enthusiastic, consistent and accurate worker, voicing often and truly on scent. She has abundant self-control. She is also extremely biddable, always coming when called. I have no doubt that Midge, with a person who could travel to field trials on a reular basis, would do very, very well in the FC class.
Then she tried her paw at Earthdog after only two practices. She earned her Junior Earthdog title in two of two tries and has earned one Senior leg. Meghan will be continuing with Earthdog when Midge returns to British Columbia in Feburary or March.

Needless to say, Pam Bethke and I were very impressed. Pam bred and co-owns Midge. Meghan was good enough to allow us to breed Midge to Maximus with the hope of getting puppies who hunt like their parents. Maximus was bred to Midge's dam, Mali, and produced our lovely Ryan. A pretty puppy like Ryan who is even a better hunter would be fabulous.
Both Midge and Maxi are sweet, sweet. Midge has never met a stranger and is happy to sit quietly in anyone's lap. Maximus has the most joyful personality of any dog I know. He is the happiest 'lil guy I have ever had in my house.
Inquiries welcome - we do have a waiting list. However, absolute preference will be given to those homes who will participate in field trials and earthdog with these puppies or allow us to do so. This is a firm requirement!
Puppies Have Arrived!
Midge & Maxi have 4 big boys, 3 black and tan and 1 red. Pix and details to come...

2004's "Gladiator" Litter
We do not have any puppies available at this time, though we have a litter due in mid December (available in mid March 2009) and two other litters planned in 2009. We do keep wait lists for our litters, though we do not generally accept deposits.
We are however, happy to refer you to other reputable breeders in this region or elsewhere who may have puppies due or available. Please keep in mind that Dachshunds have three coats and two sizes in this country and very few breeders have multiple sizes AND multiple coats. As a result, there are quite a few reputable Dachshund breeders in Colorado, but for example, only a couple of those breed miniature smooths; it's just a function of what the people here happen to breed. Most of us have, at most, a couple of coats in one size or both sizes in one coat.
Also please keep in mind that distance shouldn't be a deterrent if the right puppy for you isn't in your backyard. There are many ways to get a puppy from place to place - remember, we all travel all over to shows! Even if you have to fly to somewhere to pick up your puppy, in the big scheme of things, an extra couple hundred dollars for an airline ticket is probably well worth it to make sure you get the right puppy from the right breeder home safely. Flying to personally pick up your puppy doesn't usually cost much more than $100 extra dollars, if that, over shipping your puppy cargo...sometimes it's actually less expensive to personally pick up your puppy than it is to ship them.
